Welcome to Hooked!, a name-that-tune game using the best 2000 songs in the world, according to voters on NPO Radio 2's Top 2000 show. How many of them do you know?
Hooked! is more than just a game: it is also a science experiment. What makes music catchy? Why can we remember some songs even if we haven't heard them for years, but others we forget by the end of the summer? There are dozens of theories about music and memory, and this game is helping us test them. The more you play, the more you contribute to science!
All of the music in the game is streamed through the Deezer music service. If you don't already have Deezer, maybe you should!
The 'Start Game' button will take you to a Deezer log-in window (normally using your Facebook account). We will not retrieve or store any other personal information about you, and we will not share your Deezer ID with anybody.
Because this is a science experiment, we will store your game score and progress through the game. By playing the game, you are giving us your consent to store this information anonymously and use it for research, but you may opt out at any time, for any reason, through the 'Contact' link.
More information is available at the project web site.
Thank you, and enjoy the music!
