In 1922, Albert Einstein received death threats, and was confronted with a protest declaration against his theory of relativity in Berlin. That same year, he also visited France, and there his visit soon instigated heated discussions on the merits of relativity. In my research I have investigated EinsteinŐs visit, and the arguments and actions of anti-relativists in both Germany and France, in light of the political circumstances. I have found many similarities in the arguments of the critics, but also important differences. In this presentation I will focus on one of these differences.
