Teaching quantum mechanics starting from Heisenberg

In a recent first year course on quantum mechanics, I introduced the quantum formalism from the ideas along which Heisenberg developed matrix mechanics. A central role is played here by the correspondence principle. The Schrodinger equation and Hilbert spaces enter at a second stage.
