Master's programme History and Philosophy of Science (updated 15-09-2009)
NEW October 2009: Master brochure History and Philosophy of Science (pdf download)
The History and Philosophy of Science Master's programme encompasses one full year of training in history and philosophy of science, mostly in the form of seminars, and another full year of research, at the end of which students submit a Master's thesis. The programme is sufficiently broad and flexible to allow students to tailor it to their particular interests and background. Apart from two core courses, providing a graduate level general introduction to the history and philosophy of science, all courses in the programme are optional. The careful selection of courses enables students to put together a programme that emphasises either the history or the philosophy of any specific branch of science as well as interdisciplinary aspects. The language of instruction is English.
The Master's programme offers several tracks:
- History of Science
- Philosophy of Science
- Foundations of Physics
- Foundations of Mathematics and Logic
The programme is designed to enable you to specialise by completing a defined track (i.e. series of courses focusing on a particular area). For information on the tracks, see here .
You can find more information on the website of the Master's programme History and
