Jos Uffink's research interests are the foundations of quantum mechanics and of probabilistic or statistical theories in general.

My PhD thesis (1990) focused on the uncertainty principle of quantum mechanics:

At present I am working also on the foundations of classical statistical mechanics, and the interpretation and formulation of probabilistic and statistical reasoning. I have a post as Senior University Lecturer at the Institute for History and Foundations of Science. I teach (or have taught) the following courses in the Foundations of Physics curriculum:
  • Foundations of Probability and Statistical procedures
  • Seminar on Philosophy of Science
  • Foundations of Quantum Mechanics (since 1991)
  • Foundations of Statistical and Thermal Physics
