TM5 reads meteo using the 'tmm' routines in the TMkit library.
The 'tmm' routines are in theory able to:
- read meteo from different sources:
- HDF4 files created by TMPP
- GRIB files from ECMWF
- NCEP archives at NOAA
- OASIS interface used for model coupling
- combine vertical levels
- combine fine resolution into coarse resolution grid
- convert from gaussian or spectral fields to lat/lon
In addition, the meteo routines in TM5 are able to handle
different forms of temporal interpolation:
- constant during 6 hourly intervals [21,03], [03,06], ... ;
this is the original TM5 method;
- linear interpolation at 6 hour resolution
- linear interpolation at 3 hourly resolution
- averaged values for accumulated surface fields
