9.3 Emission pre-processor

Old emission preprocessor by Peter van Velthoven.

A new version is under devellopment.

Status: working for CH4 emissions

Structure (pre-processing mode):

• Read requested source field from input file
• Find corresponding 'original' and other information (e.g., dimensions) from database
• Read 'original' into structure
• Apply dimension conversion (standard output dimensions 1 deg x 1 deg x 60 layers)
• Apply unit conversions (standard output units: kg fmm/cl/yr)
• Write emission field plus attributes to standard HDF file

Structure (in TM):

• Read requested emission field from input file
• Read corresponding standard HDF file
• Convert to actual dimensions of model run (e.g., 3 deg x 2 deg x 25 layers)
• Convert to actual units of model run (e.g., kg fmm/cl/dt)

Needed:

• inclusion of other sources
• extension to auxiliary and boundary-condition fields, such as land fraction, ozone, seawater DMS.
• implementation in TM5

Beta version of TIPP emissions has been implemented in the high resolution version cy3/proj/hir/ .
