IMAU celebrated its 50th anniversary!

24 June 2016

On June 23rd, 200 former and present IMAUers gathered at beautiful Fort Voordorp to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the institute. Plenary talks, music and good food contributed to a festive atmosphere where former colleagues could catch up over a glass of wine. After a warm welcome by IMAU director Will de Ruijter, professor Jos Lelieveld, the director of the Max Planck Institute of Chemistry in Mainz and Fred Jansen, manager of ESA’s Rosetta mission, addressed the audience with fascinating talks. A modern opera performance by the IMAU choir led by Claudia Wieners celebrated IMAU coffee breaks and the ensemble of Maarten Krol, Sander Houweling and Thomas Röckmann performed a musical homage to soon-to-retire professors Hans Oerlemans and Will de Ruijter.
