The Karthaus summer school was accommodated in the excellent hotel Zur Goldenen Rose.
Traditionally the summer school has several musical events. This year we had three, two musical and one tango dance event.

The 12th Karthaus summer school on Ice Sheets and Glaciers in the Climate System took place from 12 to 21 September 2012. During nearly two weeks, 34 students (mainly Ph.D.) had lectures in various topics within glaciology, ranging from numerical modelling of ice sheets and glaciers to lectures about observational methods. Next to lectures and excersises also computer projects, done in groups of three students are part of the daily Karthaus programme.
Accomodation for all students and the entire staff was provided by hotel Zur Goldenen Rose, runned by Paul and Stefanie Grüner. The summer school is organized by Hans Oerlemans, and funded by the IMAU, the Niels Bohr Institute and the Ice2Sea programme.
