Two sets of convective mass fluxes are avialble:
- Offline computed convective massfluxes in TMPP
based on [Tiedtke, 1989].
- Archived by ECMWF for ERA40.
In [Olivié et al., 2004] TM simulations have been comapred with
radon measurements. Main conclusions:
- archived fluxes are in specific campaign better
in upper troposphere (higher top).
However, Pier Siebesma (personal communication) mentioned that the
ECMWF model computed a too intens convection in the tropics
(higer top); this scheme is used in ERA40.
- in middle/lower troposphere no significant differences.

Twan van Noije compared TM simulations with ozone measurements,
but did not found significant improvements.
A problem with using offline compute convective fluxes is the
missmatch with archived convective precepation.
