Karthaus summerschool

How to apply

Admission

The course is meant for early stage Ph.D. students that work on a glaciology-related climate project. Some places are available for junior scientists. The course can accomodate 36 students. Prior detailed knowledge/background in glaciology is not a prerequisite but preference will be given to students with stronger math/numerical background.

Costs

The registration fee (2021) is €650. This covers lodging, full board, excursion and course material. Travel to and from Karthaus is not covered. The International Glaciological Society offers four fellowships to cover the registration for students that qualify but have difficulties to pay the fee (this requires a justification).

Procedure

Your application should include:
• A statement why you want to participate in this course
• Affiliation, name of supervisor
• A description of your research project (~200 words)
• A curriculum vitae
Please supply this information as a single PDF file.

Send your application to the convenor (c.h.tijm-reijmer@uu.nl), before 1 June 2021. You will be notified about the decision of the Selection Committee in July 2021.

Covid-19 implications

Students should be aware that travel restrictions/quarantine requirements may be in effect, and any additional costs relating to this will not be covered by the Karthaus course! In addition, students should also be aware that it is possible that the course needs to be cancelled last minute. In that case the Karthaus course will not be liable for costs already made by the students.
