The Karthaus summer school was accommodated in the excellent hotel Zur Goldenen Rose.
Traditionally the summer school has several musical events. This year we had two: a tango music and a tango dance event.
The students started a Facebook group.

The 13th Karthaus summer school on Ice Sheets and Glaciers in the Climate System took place from 10 to 21 September 2012. During nearly two weeks, 35 (mainly PhD) students had lectures in various topics within glaciology. These ranged from numerical modelling of ice sheets and glaciers to lectures about observational methods. There was even one about extra-terrestrial ice! Apart from lectures and exercises, computer projects, done in groups of three students were part of the daily Karthaus programme.
Accomodation for all students and the entire staff was provided by hotel Zur Goldenen Rose, run by Paul and Stefanie Grüner. The summer school was organized by Hans Oerlemans and funded by the IMAU, and the Niels Bohr Institute.
