Atmospheric Physics and Chemistry Group (APCG)
IMAU

We offer a wide range of research projects for master students, bachelor students, and (to a limited degree) high school students. These projects are usually connected to our research program, so each student helps to keep our group at the forefront of science on an international level.
If you’re interested in an experimental project, please contact Thomas Röckmann (t.roeckmann [at] uu.nl) or Rupert Holzinger (r.holzinger [at] uu.nl). For modeling projects, please contact Maarten Krol (M.C.Krol [at] uu.nl).

Student Projects

Measurements of Trace Gases and Isotopes

  • Measuring isotopologues of carbonyl sulfide
  • Constraining methane emisson sources using measurements of stable isotopologues
  • Isotopic fractionation of water vapor during photosynthesis
  • Measuring and modeling methane emissions from urban sources

Measurements of Aerosols

  • A 4000-mile-long journey on the search for ocean plastic
  • Improving Aerosol and Nanoplastics Analysis
  • Characterization of organic aerosol and nanoplastis deposited in pristine Alpine snow
  • Chemical composition of fossil fuel organic aerosol
  • Organic Aerosols over the Atlantic Ocean
  • Organic Aerosols in rural and urban areas in the Netherlands
  • Characterization of organic aerosol and nanoplastics deposited in sea ice, Antarctica

Modelling of Atmospheric Processes and Composition

  • Validation of modelled inorganic aerosol: comparing models with observations
  • Measuring and modeling methane emissions from agriculture
  • Organic aerosols: observations vs modelling
