Land-atmosphere fluxes of stable isotopologues

Robbert Moonen

I work on quantifying the turbulent land - atmosphere exchange of the main H2O and CO2 isotopologues (DHO, H218O, 13CO2, and C18OO). This work is part of the CloudRoots Project led by Prof. dr. J. (Jordi) Vilà-Guerau de Arellano and Prof. dr. T. (Thomas) Röckmann. As an experimentalist, I use micro-meteorological tools like Eddy Covariance (for measuring turbulence) and various laser spectrometers (for measuring isotopologues). By combining both, we are improving our understanding of how the biosphere interacts with the atmosphere, and ultimately hope to partition the net fluxes of H2O and CO2 into their gross components originating from for example; plant roots, plant leaves, and the soil itself.
