Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU), Applied Game Design R & D program
HKU's R&D program Applied Game Design focusses on the creative aspects of the strategic design and application of games and gameplay to motivate and help players to develop competencies, comprehension or skills that are useful beyond the game itself. The applied game R&D team consists out of 8 researcher/designers and is located at the Faculty of Art, Media & Technology of the Utrecht School of the Arts.
The Faculty of Art, Media & Technology focusses on education and R&D in te domain of Art, Media & Technology in areas such as game design, interaction design, media design and music design. With over 1100 (BA, MA, MPHIL & PHD) students and over 130 staff the faculty of art, media & technology is an important breeding ground for innovation and the creative industries. The Faculty participates in numerous R&D programs at both national and European level and has partnerships with specialized institutes in over 30 countries.
The Utrecht School of the Arts (HKU) is one of the largest art and culture-oriented institutes in Europe and provides preparatory courses, bachelor's and master's programmes and research degrees in fine art, design, music, theatre, media, games and interaction and arts management.
